Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see. – Hebrews 11:1. Does anyone see a problem with this scripture? It basically says that faith is the self-comforting belief without evidence. Why would a god want you to believe in him with no evidence?
He took the blind man by the hand and led him outside the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him, Jesus asked, “Do you see anything?” He looked up and said, “I see people; they look like trees walking around.” Once more Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes. Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. – Mark 8:22-25
What was the deal with Jesus spitting on people? We know that if Jesus was real, he could heal with just his own words. Why did Jesus need to spit on people to heal certain maladies, like blindness?
Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give us your advice. What should we do?” Ahithophel answered, “Sleep with your father’s concubines whom he left to take care of the palace. Then all Israel will hear that you have made yourself obnoxious to your father, and the hands of everyone with you will be more resolute.” So they pitched a tent for Absalom on the roof, and he slept with his father’s concubines in the sight of all Israel. Now in those days the advice Ahithophel gave was like that of one who inquires of God. That was how both David and Absalom regarded all of Ahithophel’s advice. – 2 Samuel 16:20-23
So all in all, because David killed Uzziah in order to sleep with Bathsheba, Uzziah’s wife, God cursed David and had David’s son forcibly have sex with his concubines “in the sight of all Israel!” What does this say about Yahweh, the God of Judaism and Christianity?
But if the thing is true, and evidences of virginity are not found for the young woman, then they shall bring out the young woman to the door of her father’s house, and the men of her city shall stone her to death with stones, because she has done a disgraceful thing in Israel, to play the harlot in her father’s house. So you shall put away the evil from among you. – Deuteronomy 22:20-21
Therefore, if a woman has sex before marriage, she should be stoned to death. What does that say to how early Christian women in that time period were treated? This does not happen to men. Why the dissymmetrical management between sexes? This is because women were treated as chattel in the eyes of men and that belief was transposed into the Bible because the Bible is the act of men and not of God. What say you?
Religion loves to deploy magic whenever science deconstructs religion. When science picks religious beliefs apart, religion turns to magical incantations in order to convolve faith and reality. Evolution? God did that. The creation of the universe out of nothing? God did that. Who created God? God is eternal.
How long should we allow such sleight of hand to be the response to such questions? How dare theists use such childish rebuttals as responses to these important questions! What do you think?
How is it that God sees everything but failed to intervene during black slavery, the crusades, women’s forced indebted servitude, rape, child molestation, the outcasting and murder of homosexuals and all of the mass genocides of the 19th and 20 centuries?
Proverbs 5:21 – The Lord sees everything you do. Wherever you go, he is watching.
Hebrews 4:13 – Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
Proverbs 15:3 – The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.
Then God said, “Take your son, your only son, whom you love—Isaac—and go to the region of Moriah. Sacrifice him there as a burnt offering on a mountain I will show you.” – Genesis 22:2
What kind of sick individual would put a parent in the position of killing their child? How could this be considered moral? It does not matter that Yahweh/Jehovah recanted his mandate to Abraham and allowed his son to live. Imagine what God wanted Abraham to do as a test. He wanted Abraham to slit his son’s throat and then set him on fire. Please re-read the previous sentence one more time for emphasis. This is the God that wants your adoration. This is why the scourge of religion needs to be eliminated, not by force but by the understanding that is what this God would like as devotion. Pure allegiance and service to this vile creature is what it desires. This monster can gift wrap the rest of the Bible as a sound foundation of morals but this requested act is a testament to what God wants from us.
“Anyone who loves their father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; anyone who loves their son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me. – Matthew 10:37
Please remember both the example of Abraham and the aforementioned scripture when thinking about where you devotions lie…
It is faith that was the impulse engine for the Crusades, the Inquisition, the Nazi’s Holocaust, and other atrocities. Faith is the motor that allows people to be complacent in their lives. Faith allows people to truly believe in miracles. Faith can make a father like the biblical Abraham place a knife onto the throat of his son. Faith can make a Jehovah’s Witness withhold a blood transfusion for themselves or significant others when that is the only cure. Faith allowed 19 men to fly into the twin towers, the pentagon and an open field in Pennsylvania. Conversely, it was only facts that allowed the U.S. to kill Osama Bin Laden.
What do you think? Is faith so strong that it can lead people to kill? Is faith a bad thing?
So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and did just as the Lord commanded. Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. But Aaron’s staff swallowed up their staffs. – Exodus 7:10-12
Which God was stronger? The God of the Bible or the gods of Egypt?
Excerpt from “The True Nature Of Human Nature”
Religion may never die due to the supposed comfort that it brings. Prayer has been foisted upon parishioners as a way to directly communicate with God as a means of comfort. However, what has prayer ever done that was beneficial? If two football teams pray for victory, one of their prayers will not be fulfilled. The Islamic hijackers of United Airlines Flight 93 were praying to God before they attempted to hit their intended target. The ironic thing is that the passengers prayed to God as well. What good did any of their prayers do?
For everyone who curses his father or his mother shall surely be put to death. He has cursed his father or his mother. His blood shall be upon him. – Leviticus 20:9
The murder of children because of their cursing of parents? How can this behavior be even remotely justifiable? Since when can anything verbal justify the killing of an individual? Who cares if this is listed in the Old Testament. How was this ever moral? Why did God ever allow this type of behavior?
